In her words
I started because I was tired of driving to a gym I never got to. Night shifts made a class schedule pointless, so I put a bar and some plates in the garage and told myself I'd just try for a month. The first weeks were ugly. I didn't know what I was doing and I felt ridiculous training at 5 a.m. in a coat.
What nearly stopped me wasn't the cold or the early alarms — it was the weeks I missed. I'd skip two days after a bad rotation and decide I'd blown it. It took me a long time to learn that a missed session isn't a failure, it's just Tuesday. You come back Wednesday.
What actually kept it going was lowering the bar for what counts. Some mornings it's a full session. Some mornings it's twenty minutes and I'm back inside before my coffee's cold. Three years later the garage is the one thing in my week that doesn't move. I train on the Anvil rack — nothing fancy, it just doesn't wobble.
