The product launch email prompt

Write a plain-text launch email from [BRAND] for [THE PRODUCT]. Words only — no HTML, no layout notes.

One product. One story. One action.

Rules:
- 100 to 150 words. Unhurried sentences, but not long ones.
- Open with [THE STORY] — why this exists — rather than with the announcement. "We made a thing" is not a reason to read; the reason it exists is.
- Include [THE DETAIL] somewhere in the middle. One concrete specific the photographs cannot carry. Concrete detail is what separates a launch from an advert.
- No superlatives. No "finally", no "we are pleased to", no adjectives doing the work a noun should do.
- Do not mention other products. A launch email that cross-sells is not a launch email.
- Do not invent scarcity, an edition size or a sell-out risk. If the run is genuinely limited I will give you the number; otherwise say nothing about quantity.
- One ask, written as an ordinary sentence with the link inside it.
- Never invent a number, statistic, price, edition size or review. Where a figure belongs and I have not supplied it, leave [XX].
- No exclamation marks. No emoji. Sentence case.

Write a subject line under 40 characters naming the product plainly. Return subject, preheader, body, sign-off.

What to fill in first

[BRAND]
Your shop name as a customer would say it.
[THE PRODUCT]
What launched, named exactly as it appears on the site.
[THE STORY]
Why this exists. The problem, the material, the person who made it, the year it took. One thread.
[THE DETAIL]
One concrete specific a photograph cannot carry. A weight, a material, a construction choice.
[XX]
Leave as written. The placeholder for a figure you supply, never one the model supplies.

When to send it

The morning the product page goes live, not before. A launch email that lands ahead of the page sends interested readers to a 404, and those are the readers you most needed.

What to change first

[THE DETAIL]. The story gets people reading and the detail gets them believing. A weight, a material, a construction choice, the reason it costs what it costs — anything a photograph cannot carry. Without it the email is a caption for an image the reader has not seen yet.

What good output looks like

Subject: The [THE PRODUCT]

Preheader: Four years, mostly spent on the hinge.

We have been trying to make this since 2022. The problem was never the shape. It was that every hinge we tested either seized or rattled, and there is no third option at this size.

The one we settled on is machined from a single billet, which is why it weighs 340 grams instead of 200 and why it will outlast the rest of it.

It is here, in two finishes.

The prompt writes the words. Bring them here and the studio builds the campaign — branded, dark-mode safe, and ready to import.

In the studio

A model writes copy. It does not write email.

Production HTML that survives Outlook, dark mode and a Gmail clip is a different job from writing the words. Describe the send once and export it to Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign or MailerLite.
