The abandoned cart email prompt
Write the last plain-text cart reminder from [BRAND] about [THE ITEM]. Words only — no HTML, no layout notes. This is the final email in the flow. Two have already gone unanswered. Rules: - 60 to 90 words. Two or three paragraphs. Shorter than the emails before it. - Say plainly that this is the last one. A closing email that does not admit it is closing has no reason to exist. - State what actually happens next: [WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS]. If nothing happens, say the cart will just sit there. Do not invent a countdown, an expiry or a stock level I did not give you. - One ask, written as an ordinary sentence with the link inside it, pointing at the cart. - End by making it easy to walk away. One line, no guilt, no "we will miss you". - Never invent a number, statistic, discount or scarcity claim. Where a figure belongs and I have not supplied it, leave [XX]. - No exclamation marks. No emoji. Sentence case. Write a subject line under 40 characters that is honest about being the last email. Return subject, preheader, body, sign-off.
What to fill in first
[BRAND]- Your shop name as a customer would say it.
[THE ITEM]- What they left. Name it again — this email should not be coy.
[WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS]- The real thing. "Carts clear after 7 days", "this is the last one we send". If nothing happens, say that.
[XX]- Leave as written. The placeholder for a figure you supply, never one the model supplies.
When to send it
Last in the flow, usually two to four days after the abandon, and only if the first two went unanswered. A cart flow that never closes becomes a nagging flow, and the reader stops distinguishing it from everything else you send. Ending cleanly is what keeps the next flow openable.
What to change first
[WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS]. This is the field where most cart flows start lying — a countdown that
counts down to nothing, a stock warning for something that is not scarce. If the honest answer is
“nothing happens, the cart just sits there”, write that. It converts less than a fake deadline and it
does not cost you the reader.
What good output looks like
Subject: Last one about the [THE ITEM]
Preheader: Then we will leave it alone.
This is the last email we will send about the [THE ITEM] in your cart.
Nothing dramatic happens if you ignore it. The cart stays put for another week, then it clears.
Here it is if you want it.
And if you do not, that is a fine answer. We will stop here either way.
The prompt writes the words. Bring them here and the studio builds the campaign — branded, dark-mode safe, and ready to import.

A model writes copy. It does not write email.
Production HTML that survives Outlook, dark mode and a Gmail clip is a different job from writing the words. Describe the send once and export it to Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign or MailerLite.
