The promotional email prompt

Write the final plain-text reminder that [THE OFFER] closes at [THE DEADLINE]. Words only — no HTML, no layout notes.

Everyone receiving this has already had the full pitch. This email is a deadline, not an argument.

Rules:
- 50 to 80 words. This is the shortest email in the sequence and it should look short on a phone.
- Open with the deadline. First six words.
- Do not re-pitch. No new benefit, no new testimonial, no "in case you missed it" recap of the offer's features. Restate the offer in one clause only so they know which thing this is.
- Say [WHAT HAPPENS AFTER] in one sentence. A deadline with no consequence is not a deadline, and readers who have seen you bluff once will wait next time.
- One ask, written as an ordinary sentence with the link inside it. Nothing else clickable.
- Do not apologise for emailing again and do not say "last email, promise".
- Never invent a number, statistic, seat count or sales figure. Where a figure belongs and I have not supplied it, leave [XX].
- No exclamation marks. No emoji. Sentence case.

Write a subject line of five words or fewer built around the deadline. Return subject, preheader, body, sign-off.

What to fill in first

[THE OFFER]
The same offer, in the same words as the announcement email. Do not restate it differently.
[THE DEADLINE]
The real closing time, with the timezone if your list is spread.
[WHAT HAPPENS AFTER]
What changes at the deadline. Price goes up, doors close, it comes back in spring. Be specific.
[XX]
Leave as written. The placeholder for a figure you supply, never one the model supplies.

When to send it

Two to six hours before the deadline, after at least one full-pitch email has already gone. Sent to the whole list it reads as pressure; sent to openers and clickers who did not buy, it reads as a courtesy. If your tooling can only do the former, send it anyway but keep it this short.

What to change first

[WHAT HAPPENS AFTER]. A deadline the reader cannot picture is not a deadline. “Doors close and the next cohort is in March” is a consequence. “This offer ends” is a sentence. And whatever you write has to be true — a list that watches a deadline pass with nothing happening will never respect the next one.

What good output looks like

Subject: Closes at midnight

Preheader: Then it is March.

[THE OFFER] closes tonight at midnight.

After that the next intake is March, and the price goes up with it.

The prompt writes the words. Bring them here and the studio builds the campaign — branded, dark-mode safe, and ready to import.

In the studio

A model writes copy. It does not write email.

Production HTML that survives Outlook, dark mode and a Gmail clip is a different job from writing the words. Describe the send once and export it to Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign or MailerLite.
