Import

How to import this template into Klaviyo, step by step.

The download is a single HTML file. Here is where it goes in Klaviyo, what the platform expects, and which tags are already wired up.

  1. Open Content, then Templates, in the Klaviyo sidebar.
  2. Choose Import and upload the downloaded HTML file.
  3. Name the template and save it.
  4. Replace every placeholder before you send — image sources, link targets, product and price copy, the sender name and the footer address. Klaviyo’s editor handles copy and images inline, or edit the HTML directly and re-import.
  5. Attach it to a campaign, or to a flow email, when you build the send.

Editing Klaviyo opens an imported HTML template in its own editor. Copy and images are editable there, and the underlying structure stays as generated, so the layout does not drift between sends.

Watch for Klaviyo rejects an import that carries no unsubscribe tag. This template already wraps {% unsubscribe_link %} in its footer link, so it imports as-is — if you rebuild the footer, keep that tag.

Swapping the placeholder images

Klaviyo opens an imported template in its own editor, so the images can be swapped there without touching the HTML. Upload yours to Klaviyo first, then point each image block at it. Editing the file before you import works too — Klaviyo keeps whatever src it is given.

The Klaviyo tags this template already uses

Tag What Klaviyo replaces it with
{% manage_preferences_link %} The preference-centre URL, so readers can change cadence instead of leaving.
{% unsubscribe_link %} The unsubscribe URL. Required by Klaviyo at import.
{% web_view_link %} The view-in-browser URL, for clients that mangle the render.
{{ first_name|default:'athlete' }} The subscriber’s first name, with a fallback word when the field is empty.

How to use it

When to send this promotional email, and what to change first.

When to send it

A flash sale is a deadline with an email attached. Send it as a campaign when the 48-hour window opens, to the segment that has bought activewear before or browsed it recently, then queue one reminder before the window shuts. The countdown in the strip has to be real, because a discount that is still live on Monday costs you every deadline after it.

What to change first

Replace “Kinetic” in the header, footer and copyright, then decide whether “48 Hours Only • 30% Off Everything” is an offer you can actually deliver. The four bestseller tiles ship with live prices — Aero Leggings $85 struck to $59, Core Sports Bra $55 to $38, Kinetic Tank $45 to $31, Velocity Shorts $60 to $42 — and the Velocity Shorts image is still a grey placeholder that needs a real photo. The free-returns band promises a 30-day trial, so match it to your actual policy, point both “Shop the flash sale” buttons at your sale collection and put your postal address where “Example address” sits.

The craft

What makes a promotional email worth sending.

The strip does the shouting

A dark promo strip above the hero carries the discount so the rest of the email can stay calm. Colour restraint still applies — flooding the whole surface in the discount colour makes the offer harder to read, not louder.

Two buttons, total

One "Shop the sale" in the hero, repeated once after the product grid. Product tiles get an arrow-link and a price with a strikethrough, never their own button.

Specific beats enthusiastic

State the discount, the deadline and what is included. "Amazing" and "unbeatable" are adjectives a reader skips — a date and a percentage are not.

Or refine this

Questions

Klaviyo template questions, answered.

Can I use this template in a Klaviyo flow, or only a campaign?

Both. An imported template is available to any campaign or flow email you build afterwards. The trigger and the timing are configured on the flow itself, not in the template.

Do I need a paid Klaviyo plan to import a custom HTML template?

No. Template import is available on Klaviyo’s free tier, which covers up to 250 profiles. Removing Klaviyo’s own footer branding is the paid-plan feature, not the import.

Does a big header image help a sale email?

Usually the opposite. A large decorative header delays the offer the reader is meant to act on and adds load time without meaning. Lead with the headline and the discount, and reserve imagery for visuals that carry the message.

Does Activewear flash sale — Klaviyo hold up in dark mode and Outlook?

Every zone sets its background twice — once as a bgcolor attribute and once as an inline background-color — which is the pattern that survives dark-mode inversion in clients that repaint backgrounds.

The “Shop the flash sale” button is a bulletproof VML button, so Outlook on Windows draws a real filled button instead of collapsing it to a bare text link.

The layout is a 600px table backbone with a mobile breakpoint, and the CSS is already inlined for the clients that strip style blocks.
